The Arslain Pre-Thanksgiving

I made it! It took me all day yesterday, Chris chopped the tips of his fingers off with the mandolin, I forgot some ingredients on my potatoes, but all in all it was a fun night. Chris' pork roast was amazing and we had wine, champagne and the yummy chocolate dessert to top it all off. Here are some pictures:
For my table I used crab apples and fresh flowers from the garden

Planning a Dinner Party Is...

Exciting. Stressful.  Hard.  Because we will be with my family over the Thanksgiving weekend to celebrate my brother's 30th I thought it would be nice to do a pre-dinner with Chris' family on Sunday.  I am very excited but I don't think people realize how long I have wanted to throw a real, grownup dinner party.  The table, the food, the outfit.  Lets just say I haven't been able to sleep and have been to Crate & Barrel too many times this week.  Today I finished decorating my table (my dining area looks freaky like we are getting ready to eat because I am trying to decide how I want it) and did all of my grocery shopping.  Then I did a run thru of my dessert.  I think it was bad to have my Starbucks right after work.  My poor husband.  Tomorrow is play time though because I am going to Twilight and a wine party! yippee!

I will keep you posted on the dinner party planning.  Tomorrow I am making one of my appetizers, after movie before party, a pistachio cheese log which sounds really funny but I think will be delicious.  Plus you can made it a day ahead. I'm crazy.  I can't wait for Mexico. :)

Trip to San Antonio, TX

On Sunday I reluctantly left Chris and headed to San Antonio, TX for a work trip.  I went there because I planned an event at the pub Waxy O'Conner's for a group of investors.  The trip started with lovely chewing gun right in front of me:

awesome
The Riverwalk
After getting some rest we had Monday to explore.  This is the pub where our event would be that night
I highly recommend this place - great music, great beer and the inside was brought over from Ireland.  They stripped a pub there and rebuilt it.  The nightly music also plays tons of Beatles
We had lunch at The County Line.  I even tried the texas sausage! Only two bites.  I pretty much only liked the BBQ sauce
You can take a boat tour down the river.  Like Disneyland :)
Amy at The Alamo

I had a great time in Texas but was very ready to head back to LA.  My hubby picked me up from the airport and took me out for sushi! Love him!

Get Ready Ladies

In 8 days Twilight will hit the theatres. My FIRST showing will be with the lovely Jessie D. on Saturday at the Arclight. Now when people question this young adult series, I tell them to read the books. Then you will understand what a jawline, honey colored eyes and no fangs mean. I have to thank my beautiful niece Maddy for turning me on to these books (yes they are a series which I have read twice). She let me borrow her copy (with all of her school notes sticking out of it - she is 14). So I went to the gym and killed the elliptical because I could not put it down with no shame in looking like a crazy lady who takes obsessive notes on a teenage novel. So Maddy thank you for sharing Edward. We will swoon again (showing #2) but this time it will be over popcorn and red vines. xoxo

VIVA LA HOVA

So Jay Z did it again with my favorite boys. First we had Danger Mouses' the Grey Album where he mixed Jay Z with the Beatles, and now Mick Boogie and Terry Urban (two hip-hop DJs) came up with the idea to mix a capella vocals from Jay-Z songs with beats sampled from Coldplay songs. One word. SWEET. I would walk down the isle all over again to "The Reverse Fix" except with a little more booty shake. This album is only available via download.

Happy Kissa-versary!

Today marks the 5 year anniversary of when Chris and I first kissed! Yay! Everyone thinks I am ridiculous for marking this occasion but when a girl waits 7 years to kiss someone it matters! It happened on a balcony in Westwood. Guess what - we now have a balcony in Westwood! Instead of jello shots we will have wine and rather than Del Taco we will be going to Frida's. Times have changed! Love ya baby and see you on the balcony! xoxo -Amy

Stand Up for Skateparks

Yesterday I worked the Tony Hawk Foundation's Stand Up for Skateparks at my Boss's house. It is a great event to raise money for the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities. A lot of celebs came and Social D played. Although it was a tiring day it was nice to find out that the event raised a million dollars. Here is a nice shot of the ramp they built in the back yard.

I love this picture

An oldie but a goodie that Chris took in Ireland and posted on his blog.
Have a great weekend! xoxo
