Congratulations to Mer & Win!

On Sunday, August 24th at 10:47pm Mer gave birth to Evan Laurence Dada. She did it with no drugs! You go girl!

His stats:
7lbs, 15 ounces
20 inches

He developed an infection in his lungs (very common) and so they are treating him with antibiotics. Mer hopes to bring him home Monday.

I am so excited for the both of them and cannot wait to meet him! He will be such a joy in all of our lives. Mer sounds so happy and fulfilled every time I talk to her. It is killing me that I have to wait a week to see him! But when I do I am going to wrap him up in the blanket I made for him and tell him how loved he is.

HUSBAND TAG!

  • What is your husband's name? Christopher Michael Arslain
  • How long have you been together? We’ve been together for almost 5 years, married for almost 3 years but have known each other for 13 years.
  • Who said "I love you" first? I did when I was 16 and he was staring at me from across the room, but he said it out loud on New Year’s of 2003
  • Who is smarter? hmmm…that depends on the subject. Space – Chris wins. Celebrity baby names – booyahhh!
  • Who does the housework? I again think we should look at both sides. Chris does a majority of the housework aka the dishes and we have the amazing Liliana, BUT I do the decorating and that is hard work!! Oh wait… Angela did that. I sort the laundry!!!!!
  • Who sleeps on the right? Chris does. Very far to the right because I am a bed hog. hehe
  • Who pays the bills? Mrs. Arslain.
  • Who cooks dinner? Hmm…again a matter of debate. Chris works the summer meals, I work Fall and Winter.
  • Who drives when you are together? Both. But Chris loves to tell me I am a crazy driver. Whatev. Just because I was born to be driving a Porsche Turbo does not mean I can't drive my Golf like it is one
  • Who is more stubborn? Debate #4: I think he is, but I’M SURE he will say that I am
  • Who kissed who first? I kissed him after he said he needed my bros permission. I stated the truth to get what I wanted “It does not matter if we kiss once or a thousand times. He will get over it”. Yay jello shots!
  • Who proposed? Chris did. He took me out on a bluff overlooking the ocean near Cambria, we opened a bottle of wine and he got down on one knee. I said yes so many times that he had to ask me if I wanted to see the ring. I then yelled yes over and over again.
  • Who has more siblings? Chris does
  • Who wears the pants? We both do. Mine are just tighter. He looks damn good in jeans though. holla!
  • LOVE YOU BABY! Did I embarrass you enough? - Mrs. A

Baby Shower!

Pretty soon we will be welcoming Evan Laurance Dada into the world. To celebrate we threw a shower for Mer & Win at their beautiful home in Ojai, CA. They threw a co-ed shower and it was so much fun. I can't wait to meet the little guy! This is the invitation I designed for the party:Angela helping me/saving me get ready for the big day. Make that frosting! My assistant

How to Make a Diaper Cake

So I guess it is something new for our generation to make diaper cakes as decorative/gifts for baby showers. I threw my best friend Mer's baby shower on August 2nd (I know I am late with the pics), but here is how a diaper cake is done. They are easy to make and a great gift for the mommy!
1) I used Whole Foods brand 365 which are cholorine free diapers (42 total) and after rolling them up, securing them with rubber bands and making three tiers I then used yarn to secure them.
2) The next step was a layer of decorative paper, then some pretty ribbon to add some class
3) The hardest part of this was the handmade flowers. Paper-source creates a kit for these and they are tricky but so worth it.

Culver City Day

I am playing catch up on summer activities so here is one of them. Chris and I took a trip down to the Culver City art galleries which are becoming the place to be. It looks like an abandoned area but like all of LA had gems inside. Some pictures I took:

We went for a cocktail at The Mandrakethis is not a picture
