Christmas In LA

Quick post on Christmas because we didn't take that many pictures as we were having too much fun. We spent the holidays with Chris' family and ate delicious meals, went to the movies, played games and had all the happiness that comes with being with family.

Three Years and Still on Our Honeymoon

Three years ago we were married. It was on Christmas Eve at Angela & Scott's house on a perfect Los Angeles day. I woke up with this odd serene feeling and floated through getting my hair done with my sisters & Mom. I don't remember the drive from my hair to the house, or much before I put my dress on. It really does go by fast. I remember when it finally hit me and of course it was when Angela was putting my makeup on and I started to cry. I remember how beautiful my mom looked and how sad I was to not have Chris' mom Nancy there. I remember almost fainting on my Dad right when "Fix You" came on and I had to step outside. Most of all I remember feeling this inner happiness that filled me up and made nothing else matter. I had my whole family around me and though a few were not I had them in my heart. Being a bride really is the best. I can honestly say this was the best day of my life.

I met Chris when I was 13 and he was 17.

I remember the color of his shirt (green & blue), his car (black mustang), the first time I was close enough to see the scar on his cheek (when I was 15 and he was reading a paper I wrote for school), the time when he picked me up in his Landcruiser after softball practice and he was playing Yesterday by The Beatles in his car. When he wrote a letter to me for my time capsule freshman year and I opened it early and he had written that when I was older to find him. The day I graduated high school and he really liked my tight blue dress I was wearing. The night I found out that he had a new girlfriend, I was 16, and I cried for hours. My best friend Tovah picked me up and took me to an overlook where we danced in the back of her El Camino to cheer me up.

When I was in college we were much more open about our flirting and I still laugh when I think about those late nights on AIM. I would drive down to LA to see my brother and cousin and he would always be there. He took me on tours of ER and we hung out on the roof of his & Chad's apartment overlooking Hollywood. I even had my boyfriend of the time take this picture. I know. Bad.

Stalker Amy took this while he wasn't looking

He then took this of us. I loved that apartment. I loved LA. I always felt like it was home.I love reminiscing about him and then being able to wake up every day looking at that scar, those brown eyes that I have wanted to look into for 13 years. Persistence really does pay off. I compared every guy to him. He was Chris Arslain. And now I am Mrs. Arslain. I love love love that title. I won. :)

Pre-Anniversary Dinner

Having your wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve makes it difficult for planning a special evening alone. So we planned our night to celebrate on Tuesday the day before. We also included Ang & Scott (he also married us which was a nice touch to the evening) and we had a wonderful meal at Pace. It was a wonderful night, the food was great and I got presents too! Chris surprised me with the watch that I wanted (leather is the gift for your third wedding anniversary) and I love it. I have to say that I am still dreaming of their warm chocolate cake. yum! xoxo c&a

Riverside Christmas

So as soon as I left my work Christmas party on Wednesday night, I was sick sick sick. The doc said I had a virus and just had to wait it out. Let me tell you I was in bed for three days straight. On Sunday I dragged myself up to celebrate Christmas with my family in Riverside and it was worth every tired minute. We started off with breakfast at Coco's where we met up with the Steele's and a great friend of mine from high school, Sirisha. She is in med school in Omaha so I don't see her very much. I loved just chatting and being back in our old hangout. After that we headed back to the Steele's where I gave little Charlotte her present. She looked so cute in it! Off we went over to Grandma's house. Nothing makes you happier than the familiar sights and smells of your Grandma's house. She pulled out all the stops with our favorite foods, Christmas music and wine. We always need wine while cooking with Grandma. :) My Aunt Kathy and Aunt Margie were also there so we had a night full of love and laughter. We missed my parents so much but next year Christmas will be amazing because we will all be together again. The best part of the night was when my Grandma gave me her "Big Hug Mug" which I have wanted for years. It now proudly sits on my shelf. xoxo C&A
