Starting in May I began to have a pain in my side. I went to a GI, had a cat scan and they found two cysts, one in each ovary. I also discovered after a week long liquid diet that I was lactose intolerant which was causing the initial pain.
They believed the cysts to be Dermoid Cysts that were growing within the ovary, not on it. I was scheduled for surgery immediately due to the danger of one of them twisting and causing permanent damage. I had laparoscopic surgery (two baby cuts in my lower abdomen) and thankfully they were both removed with no complications. I was informed that they had doubled in size in one month and the one on my right side was now the size of a naval orange. It was an extremely painful surgery but my recovery time was two weeks (really 3 months for the internal stitches and discomfort to stop).
This photo was taken minutes after I woke up from the anesthesia. I was so happy to see that little monkey! :)

Thankfully I had an amazing doctor, wonderful Mama who flew in to take care of me, Sister who rocked as nurse #2 and of course Chris who helped lift me out of bed every day and also lifted my spirits every time I was down. This process taught me to always listen to your body, and be thankful for good doctors. If my Internist had not gotten me into the GI on his day off, and had he not rushed me in for a cat scan, the pain could have passed and I might have had a much different/unfortunate result. Yay! :)
